Happy Thursday, and happy three sleeps until Christmas!
I am getting super excited, especially since my shopping is done, all but one gift is wrapped, and the kitchen is clean. Anyone else out there need to have a clean kitchen in order to have a clear mind? Finally I can sit down and BLOG! The last two weeks have been ridiculously busy. We have had plans every weekend this month, and lately we have had plans every night. I don’t know about you guys, but I am a serious homebody and need that time at home to recharge and feel refreshed.
That being said, tis the season for tons of get togethers and most of all, tons of FOOD! You probably noticed that I didn’t do a #MerryFitmas check in this week. To be honest, I totally forgot about measuring myself on Saturday since I was at a family Christmas party all day. I woke up early enough to run, get ready & go. And make coffee, obviously ; ) That being said, we will see how things go. I am going to do my last #MerryFitmas post tomorrow, so stay tuned!
On the note of fitness, I got my butt to the gym early this morning. While I have been running quite often on my own, my strength training and work outs in the gym have slipped. It is important to have a mix of both cardio and strength, so this morning I decided to just DO IT and start the day off on the right foot. Just before my alarm went off, Nala had a bit of a coughing fit (hacking up a hairball perhaps? Do dogs get those?) which woke me up. I actually thought she was puking. So, I flipped the light on and rushed over, only to find her curled up on her bed. As soon as I walked back to the bed my alarm went off, and I thought. Hmm. Do I go back to bed for an hour, or do I get my workout in so I can have more time after work? Yep, mind was made up!
I ran 5km while catching up on YouTube videos and did an upper body shoulder circuit that consisted of shoulder presses, tricep kickbacks, front/side raises, rear-delt flies, and upright rows. It was quick and effective!
Ooh, yes. I also picked up a little holiday treat to try tonight. You know that “junk food once per week” that was part of #MerryFitmas? Honestly that has kind of gone out the window this week. I haven’t been going crazy by any means, but I have had a small treat every day. The rest of my diet has been good this week though, so at least there is that!
