Good evening friends!
I am coming to you from the comfort of my couch and Christmas pajamas tonight. It was a busy weekend, but it was full of fun, family, and laughter – what all good weekends are made of!
First thing’s first, I will rewind a little bit to Saturday. Saturday was spent mostly at home during the day, though I did venture out to get my hair cut and pick up a few family Christmas exchange gifts. It’s always fun picking out gifts, so I found some items that I think the gift-receiver will like! Before I went into town I got in a 12km run. Either Saturday or Sunday is my day for longer distances. Now that I am working Monday to Friday, I can use Saturday for my long run and rest on Sundays : ) Looking forward to that for sure!
Speaking of Sunday, I actually ventured out onto the trail with my running buddy. You may have seen her before ; ) We covered 5km on the trail together and she was sufficiently pooped out after! Plus she had a playdate with Marley, my mom & dad’s dog, so it was a busy day full of activity. A tired pup is a happy pup!
The “don’t make me get off my bed” look. I am pretty sure I look the same way when I wake up in the morning, too.
Now it’s time for my Merry Fitmas check in! On Saturday it was my second measure for the #MerryFitmas challenge my sister and I are doing, and this is how it went down:
Hips: stayed the same
Lower abs: Lost .25 inch
Waist: Lost .50 inch
Bust: stayed the same
Thighs: Lost 3/4 inch
Overall, 1.5 inches this week. I’ll take it!
Not too shabby! A few things I have been doing during the work day is snacking on almonds in the morning. This helps curb my hunger until my lunch time at 1 or 1:30pm. I find having a heartier morning snack staves off cravings in the afternoon. That being said, I will also pack a homemade granola bar or something like a Lara bar for the afternoon if I am finding I need something to cure my sweet tooth. Alternatively, apples have been my go-to because they are both sweet and crunchy!
Of course, I am drinking lots of water, too. I brought back the ol’ lemon water to sip on as I find it just adds a little somethin’ somethin’ to my water. Now when I drink water on it’s own it almost doesn’t taste right. Anyone else feel me here? I have also been drinking lots of herbal teas in the evening when I want something warm and cozy but without all the sugar like hot chocolate. Finding healthier swaps for the indulgent holiday foods can help keep those pesky extra calories away and help you stay on track if you are working towards a more junk-free lifestyle.
I hope you all had a great weekend! I will recap a little bit more tomorrow since we got extra festive in here and did some more decorating. More to come! : )
