Good morning from your favourite neighborhood Christmas crazies!
Did we buy Nala a Christmas sweater this weekend? Yep. Did I force her to sit down by the Christmas tree and take a picture while wearing said sweater? Yep. Am I obsessed with her sweater so much so that I wish I could have a matching one of my own? Yep.
You get the drift.
Sunday morning we headed out to Petsmart with our furry little pup in tow to get a picture with Santa. OMG. We are those people.
We also found her some treats, a new toy, this Christmas sweater, and some stocking goodies for her brother Simba. Simba is our cat who makes very rare appearances on the blog, mainly because he never stays in the house long enough for me to snap a picture of him. That being said, since it has been colder he has been sleeping inside at night, so eventually you’ll see his cute little face on a blog near you.
So what else happened on Sunday, you ask?
Well, I was the first one up so took advantage of my solo-morning time and got in some strength training. As you guys may already know, I have been running more which means I have been strength training less. The two don’t necessarily go hand in hand, but for me my strength training seems to slip as soon as my mileage goes up. However, Sunday I got in about half an hour of upper and lower body work, plus a quick 20 minute walk with Nala in the snow.
There was a bit of this too:
She. Is. So. Cute.
Crazy dog lady, I know.
We also did some grocery shopping, made some soup & then headed out to my parents’ house. We all piled in the car and headed towards Nanaimo, where we were meeting some more family for dinner. It was a great afternoon/evening, and we went back to my parents’ house to decorate the Christmas tree. Winning!
Of course, I was in bed by 10pm and, for whatever reason, awake at 5am. I could hear the cat meowing to go outside, and then laid in bed scrolling through Instagram before finally getting up. Well, I’m awake so I might as well be productive. We got more snow overnight on Sunday, which made for a very chilly drive to the gym early Monday morning!
Have you ever heard the saying, Never miss a Monday? Yeah, that’s what got me to the gym yesterday morning. Although my bed was calling my name, so warm and cozy, I knew that I would not want to go to the gym after work. There is something about having your evening free that is so appealing, too, which made my decision even easier. Do it now & you won’t have to do it later!
I got 6km in during my little gym session and called it good for the day. I needed some time to drive home, shower, make breakfast & get ready for the day. It was a quick run but effective and was a great way to start the day!
My diet has been quite sparse in veggies lately. GASP! I know, horrible to say, but it’s true. Last night Ryan made this beautiful salad with grated carrots, beets, mixed cherry tomatoes & cucumber. We also had some steak which I put on top of my salad. Simple & delicious. It’s always good to eat the rainbow – but not the Skittles kind of rainbow!
I am going to a Christmas show tonight with my mom & sister which should be super fun. CHRISTMAS IS SO CLOSE! I am seriously in awe still. 12 days! Who else is feeling a little extra festive these days!?
