2017: New Year, New Goals


The new year is here.

Who else is ready to start planning out the next 365 days? I know I am! I am a list-lover and definitely goal oriented, so when New Year’s Eve rolls around I am more than ready for a fresh, clean slate. While many people believe resolutions are pointless and that nobody ever sticks do them, the idea of setting a goal or a resolution can happen any time, not just on January 1st. How many times have you said, “I’ll start on Monday,” or “I will do that tomorrow.”? Isn’t that somewhat of a resolution? Nevertheless, I always like to read about what people have planned for the year ahead, so I wanted to share some new goals I have for the new year!

Of course, I want to keep running through 2017. I am aiming to run 1500 miles this year, or 125 miles per month. I will do this by scheduling my runs and ensuring I make time for a long run on the weekend.

I will foam roll after every run to help prevent injury

I will improve my core and upper body strength by strength training a minimum of twice per week

I will walk Nala at least three times per week

I will practice yoga at least once per week, whether this is at home or in a yoga studio

In 2017, I will continue to build my knowledge and read a new book every month. This was a goal of mine in 2016 that I successfully surpassed (even if only by one book).

I will cut out as much dairy as possible as it leaves me feeling lethargic, bloated, and makes my skin break out.


Finally, on Sunday, October 8th, 2017 I will run my first marathon.

Yep. The full 26.2 miles.
