Happy Friday!

We have made it to the last day of the work week. Who has exciting plans this weekend? Who is doing nothing? Who has to work tomorrow? Who is working out?!

For today’s FTF (Fit Tip Friday if you didn’t pick up on that), I wanted to chat about the importance of adding strength training into your life, especially for us ladies!

“But I don’t want to get bulky! I don’t want to look like a man. I don’t want huge muscles!”

Okay, okay. I get it.

BUT HEAR ME OUT. Ladies, we do not have the testosterone to support huge muscle growth. We just don’t. If you see women out there who are bulging at the seams with muscles and you have a feeling it isn’t natural, here’s a tip. It probably isn’t natural. Steroid alert! We simply to not have the capacity to obtain huge muscles in a short period of time. You will see tons of natural, female body builders, and while that physique on stage is not an attainable year-round physique, it also took years to build that muscle in the first place.

That being said, strength training can help build the shape of body that you want. Do you want more defined shoulders, or sleek arms? Do some upper body workouts! Want defined quads, a bigger booty, a chiseled back? Strength train, strength train, strength train!

Because who doesn’t take sneaky, sweaty selfies in the gym?

Lifting weights is not only a great stress reliever, but it also strengthens your bones as your bones, ligaments, and tendons are under constant tension when you are lifting weights. They have to hold the weight, after all! Additionally, this helps stave off age related degeneration and helps promote overall health.

Coupled with a clean diet, weight lifting can help you towards your weight loss goals. When compared to cardiovascular exercise, weight lifting burns more calories after the workout is finished. Yes, this means your body is still burning those pesky little monsters while you are driving home from the gym. Bonus!

You can easily strength train from home. There are so many body weight exercises you can do from the comfort of your living room (even in the comfort of your pajamas if you want!), and it doesn’t have to cost you a fortune. Browse through my blog for some workouts, too ; ) More to be shared, of course!
