The First Monday & First Run-Day of the Year

Good morning, sunshines!

I’m ready for a great day today : ) I hope you all enjoyed your time off for New Years. Now it’s back to the grind, and I can say that I am looking forward to some more routine in my life. While my routine will be changing this year in regards to my fitness, I will be welcoming this change and I’m excited to see where it takes me this year.

I wanted to pop in with a bit of a recap of yesterday. Yesterday was the first Monday of 2017 and also my first run-day of 2017. Nothing like kicking the year off with a run! I woke up around 8am on Monday, lounged in bed for almost a whole hour before I finally got myself up. Ah yes, back to the early mornings this week! For a while I debated whether I would go for to an evening yoga class or a morning run, and after dragging my butt around for about half an hour, I decided: run it is! Although it was super sunny today, the sun was very deceiving as it was still windy and cold outside. Of course, I don’t have much winter running gear other than long sleeved shirts, so my hands were a wee bit frozen when I got back. Nonetheless, it was a good run and the fresh (albeit freezing) air was nice to breathe in.

I completed a 5km loop that had two big hills and one smaller, gradual one. By the time I was done running, my fingers were so frozen that I could barely hit the stop button. I wasn’t too far off though from what you see pictured. Once I was inside, it was time to shower, thaw out & have the first cup of coffee! In my last post I was chatting about how I will foam roll after every run. Well, I am proud to say that I stuck to that! Oh yeah, already on a roll with these resolutions ; ) Haha. I did a few random squats and lunges on Sunday while Ryan and I watched a movie, so the foam rolling kind of helped with that soreness – and the soreness from the hills during my run! Ah well. As I said yesterday, What doesn’t challenge you doesn’t change you! Perhaps that will be my motto going into 2017.

The rest of the day was pretty busy. Ryan and I had some adulting to do. What does this mean, you ask? Well, we finally broke down and bought a new washer and dryer. Woohoo! This is coming a week after we bought a new dishwasher. Why is it that all the big appliances seem to give up at the same time? To be fair, the dishwasher was overdue a few months ago – we just kept putting it off and trying to convince ourselves that “it isn’t that bad.” Yep, eventually we decided to just bite the bullet and get it done. New year, new appliances, right!?

While we were out and about, we also hit up the grocery store, Winner’s & Best Buy. I picked up a few things from Winner’s that I will show you guys tomorrow in a little haul : ) And from Best Buy… Well, I got a new camera.

Seriously. What a spendy Monday. That being said though, I look forward to bringing more content to you guys and upgrading my photo quality from the ol’ iPhone pictures ; )

Until tomorrow! I hope you all have a great day : )
