Happy Valentine’s Day to everyone out there : ) Even if you don’t have a special someone in your life and despise Valentine’s Day, you can still do something nice for yourself! Be your own Valentine, buy yourself some flowers, eat chocolate in the bath tub & put on a face mask. That sounds like a good night to me!
I wanted to share a few things we got up to this weekend for our early Valentine’s Day celebrations. Ryan and I both slept in until about 9am, then I got up to make us breakfast. Usually Ryan is the chef of the house. He is an amazing cook and always puts together creative meals and isn’t afraid to experiment in the kitchen. So, I thought I would go back to basics and do some good ol’ pancakes. What beats Sunday morning pancakes? Nothing. That’s right. Nothing does. However, I put a healthier spin on the usual pancake recipe. I had two ripe bananas to use, so banana pancakes were on the menu. Instead of using all white flower, I did half all purpose flour and half whole wheat to at least up the nutritional value a little. Add to that hemp seeds, cashew milk instead of dairy milk, and REAL, local maple syrup and you had some damn good pancakes.
We also had a side of fruit salad and coffee. I’m all about having fresh fruit in the morning, so that really hit the sweet tooth spot!
After running a few errands, taking Nala for a big walk in the sunshine (if only all the snow would melt!), and getting ready for the day ahead, we ventured to Victoria.
Every time we drive by the Malahat summit I always would say, “Oh I wish I had my camera so I could take pictures!” Well, to my surprise Ryan had packed my camera in the car while I was getting ready, so I really COULD take a few shots up there! I was thrilled about this and pleasantly surprised : )
It was a beautiful day and the perfect opportunity to take some photos, as it was dark when we got home.
While in Victoria, we also went to Uptown shopping centre where I bought a jacket from H&M. Can you believe I actually only own one jacket? Well, one non-running jacket, and even the running jacket selection is slim. We also went to Whole Foods where I only had 30 minutes to look around. Well then. Speed shopping! Ryan had us on a pretty tight schedule since we were also going out for dinner & seeing a movie that evening. So, I finished my perusing early and we were in Langford for an early dinner at Milestones. I didn’t take any pictures there, but we had an amazing dinner, good wine, and then were off to the movies! Of course we had to see A Dog’s Purpose. I probably cried at least four times, then immediately had to hug Nala when we got home. I highly recommend it if you are a dog lover!
Now it’s time to work and then have Valentine’s Day dinner round two – home style, this time : ) After a busy weekend it will be nice to relax at home with no where to be put the couch in my jammies. I hope you all enjoy your LOVE DAY!
