Hey guys! As you know, I am a sucker for anything wellness related. If there is a new wellness trend, I want to try it and I want to share it with you guys. Today I wanted to chat about some of my current wellness and beauty related items lately. I have been using all of them for at least a few months now, and I think that’s a good amount of time to form an educated opinion, wouldn’t you say?
Of course, there are some trends that are harder to get behind, but to each his own!
I wanted to start off with essential oils. I am a huge fan of essential oils because they have so many mind and body benefits. Right now I have been super into this Breathe Easy blend by WOW essential oils. It is a calming blend of peppermint, eucalyptus, tea tree, and a touch of cinnamon. I sprinkle 2-3 drops on my pillow before bed (and I have been doing the same to Ryan’s pillow, but shhhh I haven’t actually told him) and it is such a calming fragrance that opens up your airways and allows you to have a deep, restful sleep.
I have also been loving these massage oils by Weleda. My personal favourite is the orange label bottle that contains arnica. Arnica is so good for relaxing your muscles as it is a natural pain reliever, so I like to massage this into my legs after a run. The rose one is nice on an at-home spa night, and there are a few others that I have like pomegranate, birch, and lavender. Can’t go wrong with a little massage!
Now for some beauty!
This powder is my go-to setting powder. It is by Rimmel London and you can find it in pretty much every drugstore or big box retailer that sells make up. It doesn’t leave me with a cake face, it is mattifying so you don’t get the dreaded shiny forehead look, and it has lasted me a long time. Mind you, on the weekends I typically don’t wear make up, and when I do use this during the week I like to use it sparingly – only on places where I have used concealer, like under my eyes (yep I need it bad there!), around my mouth, and on any blemishes or spots. I use this with a big fluffy powder face brush and voila. Easy.
Aaand my holy grail make up wipes. I am so lazy when it comes to washing my face. Every once and a while I will do an at-home facial type of treatment, but on the daily? Nope. I grab one of these suckers, sometimes put a warm to hot towel on my face and then moisturize. My skin is super picky and sensitive, but these wipes have been playing nicely with my skin lately so I am going to continue using them. Plus they truly do take off any stubborn make up like mascara or eyeliner!
Now for my new concealer find. I found this Pacifica concealer at Whole Foods, and I am interested in finding more natural or at least better-for-me make up products. This has a slightly liquid consistency (not as thick as say, the Make Up Forever concealers), but it does cover quite well. I dot this under my eyes, use it around my mouth and nose (or any areas that are more prone to redness) and on any blemishes, then blend it in partly with a foundation brush and then with my finger to buff out any brush lines. I used to be a huge user of the Beauty Blender, until I realized it was growing mold and I was not going to put that near my face. Plus, I don’t want to spend almost $30 on a sponge. Call me crazy, right? Anyway, I would definitely recommend this concealer if you are looking towards the cleaner side of make up. They have a few brightening shades as well, and the rest of the make up in their range looks amazing, too!
Last but not least, some nails and deodorant. I am horrible at nail care, and this polish from Essie keeps them from becoming too dry and brittle. It helps my nails grow stronger, and can act as a nice base coat before you put nail polish on. I found this at my local Shopper’s Drugmart, but you can find it anywhere nail polish is sold.
Moving on to the deodorant. Oh boy. You guys know how I feel about putting commercial deodorants/antiperspirants under my arms, because I talked all about it in this post. I was gifted this one in my stocking over the holidays, and it has been my go-to. It has a fresh scent, and doesn’t leave me feeling sticky or gross. Of course, natural deodorants do not stop you from sweating. Sweating is actually REALLY good for you! However, it does prevent you from smelling like you just came from an intense spin cycle class (even if you have!) so that is a bonus.
I want to know! What are your current beauty & wellness faves? Let me know because I am on the hunt for more goodies to test out!
