So, you know that yoga challenge I did last month? The one where I posted a photo every day for the month of February with lots of new to me poses, and ones where I was flailing everywhere because I am not an expert yogi master? Yeah, that yoga challenge!
Well, it turns out I was one of the Instagram winners! What a happy surprise on Thursday. Thursday was an all around awesome day, but that was the icing on the cake, you could say. I went to my favourite yoga class on Saturday (core, hips & hammies) and picked up my prize. I have been wearing it all weekend because it is wonderful : ) Nope, no fancy diamond bracelets for this girl. Give me some crystals and gemstones and I’m a happy camper.
Let’s rewind to Saturday morning. I woke up around 7:30am, after going to bed at 10 the night before. Friday night was so chill, to the point where I almost wish all Friday nights were like that. No partying over here, NOPE! I had an epsom salt bath with a blend of essential oils, a Lush bathbomb & a big ol’ cup of peppermint tea. Oh, and my book. Then after my bath I retreated to the bedroom and continued to read until I couldn’t keep my eyes open anymore. Talk about lulling yourself to sleep. It was awesome! I woke up Saturday feeling rested and ready for my long run… Only there was one little snag in that plan. It had snowed the night before, and I am a big NO on the snow, especially with Sunday’s race the next day. So, you guessed it. I took my run to the treadmill, fueled with some Honey Stinger chews (they were actually really good!) and Nuun in my waterbottle, and the 9 miles (or 14.8 km) passed by quickly with the help of some YouTube videos. My yoga class after felt especially good since my hamstrings especially needed a bit of TLC!
Then after I came home from yoga and running a few errands, Nala and I headed out on the trail for a big walk! She needed to get outside, and I figured that although my legs are a bit tired, there’s plenty of time to flop on the couch in the evening. So, we walked for almost an hour on the trail, and she was loving life. Does anyone else feel so ridiculously happy when they see their dog’s face? Ugh, she is so sweet I die.
Okay, Nala, you model dog!
After our walk, I was hungry. I used the coconut yogurt I bought whilst out & about earlier to make a yogurt bowl.
In the mix:
Yoso unsweetened coconut yogurt
One small banana
Unsweetened coconut flakes for extra texture & healthy fats
Scoop of natural almond butter <— LOOK at ingredients when you are buying nut butters. I am a big advocate for only almonds or only peanuts. Salt is okay, but not ideal, and anything else other than the nuts and salt is no bueno in my book.
I also made a matcha latte to warm up. I used the same matcha powder that I also used in these matcha macca energy balls. First, I measured my milk by pouring it into the mug I was going to be using, then put it in a pot and added 2 spoonfuls of matcha powder and let that heat up on the stove. Easy, delicious, and a nice little energy boost!
I hope you all have a wonderful day today! I will catch ya tomorrow : )
